 FUND-RAISING EVENTS
Our Angel Fire Catholic Community has been extremely busy ever since we were given the green light to begin raising money for a new church. We have organized many fund-raisers to help with our campaign and they also provide fun and diversion to the entire community. We have placed some pictures and stories of these events in this website. We plan many more events in the future and will be listing them on the website to keep you informed.

We welcome ideas for new events to help us raise money and raise awareness of our project. If you are interested in helping us with any event or project please contact either Larry Layden 575-377-2743 or Tom Germscheid, 575-377-3332.

First Fundraiser of 2016 - Boot Scootin' BBQ and Dance

The first "fun-draiser" of 2016, our annual Boot Scootin' Barn Dance & BBQ was held on January 23rd! It  offered a fun time for all, and was a success again!  We also had our annual Reverse Drawing Raffle where you have a chance to win up to $1000.00 (consolation prizes of $50 and $100 also).  Frank Proud, Parishioner was the winner of the $1000.00 grand prize.

PAST FUND-RAISING EVENTS

2015 Seventh Annual Boot Scootin' Fun and a Success

Out first fund-raiser since our church was officially dedicated and is officially a Mission Church was held on January 24, 2015 at the Community Center and everyone had a great time - Tom Quinn was the lucky winner of the $1000 reverse drawing. Kim and the Caballeros provided the music and the brisket was great as usual. We will continue to have fund raisers since we need to pay the mortgage for the church.

FOURTH ANNUAL HOLY ANGELS GOLF TOURNAMENT - 2014

Our fourth annual golf tournament was held on June 21, 2014 and we couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect and 90 players competed. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the game and the weather. The luncheon was delicious and the winners walked away with trophies. The profits from the tournament will go directly towards the building fund. We are adding more pictures.......stay tuned!

Boot Scootin' 2014

PictureMarcy and Torie Tafoya help serve BBQ.
On Friday, January 24, 2014 we had our annual Boot Scootin' BBQ and Dance, along with our first reverse drawing. It was a huge success even with low turnout. Everyone that did come had a wonderful time. The food was delicious (as usual) and Kim and the Caballeros played their best.
The winners of the Reverse Drawing were Lawrence and Roxanne Schissel for the $50; Austin Rees for the $100 and the lucky $1000 winner was CJ Wiegel. The amazing thing is that all three donated their winnings back to Holy Angels Building Fund!!  It looks like when all is said and counted, we will net about $10,500 towards the building fund! Thank you, thank you.

Many thanks to all who made this possible. Tom & Cindy Germscheid as usual worked non-stop and the building committee helped in any way they could. All in all we have a great group of people willing to pitch in. The community is right there supporting us. We heard that it had even been announced and promoted at the United Church and we thank them and everyone that came and showed their support.

Fifth Annual Oldies Night -2013

Picture
Father Culotta and Janice Tschope enjoy the great food.
This year's Oldie's Dinner, Dance & Auction held at the Angel Fire Community Center on July 13, 2013 was fun and a success again! Thanks to all who attended and also especially to the hard workers who made this possible. The food was delicious, lovingly prepared by some of our parishioners with the sundaes making it feel like a 50's "The Time Machine" from Taos kept everyone hopping! The live and silent auctions brought out lots of shoppers to view and purchase the great items donated by so many generous donors, both personal and businesses. All the proceeds go to the building fund so we're lots closer to our goal of starting the building this year or early next! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!  We will be posting more pictures as they become available.

Third Annual Golf Tournament a Huge Success

Picture
The winners of this year's tournament, Bruce and Janice Tschoepe and Lou and Yvonne Weber admire their trophy. One hundred players competed at the Angel Fire Golf Course and Northern New Mexico provided the perfect weather. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's tournament a great success, especially Lionel Dace, who did an amazing job coordinating the event. The Angel Fire Fire Department provided their ladder truck for the Ball Drop making everyone gasp as the brave firefighter climbed to the basket and dropped the golf balls! Check out the pictures of this fun event.

Saturday January 26th turned out to be lots of fun for about 180 happy souls that attended, with scrumptious melt-in-your-mouth barbecue and foot stomping music from Kim and the Caballeros. Thank you for your support - and extra thanks to Tom and Cindy Germscheid for taking the lead in this and to everyone that worked so hard to assure a successful and fun event!
Check out the pictures taken at the Dinner/Dance - lots of folks having fun and enjoying a good meal! We didn't get everyone's name, so some may not have captions.

Breakfast With Santa

Picture
Santa & Mrs. Santa hear requests.
Holy Angels was asked by the staff at the Angel Fire Community Center if we could help out with drinks for the annual "Breakfast with Santa" event held on December 22, 2012. We provided hot chocolate and hot cider and helped serve the treats to the many children that attended, along with their parents, grandparents, uncles or aunts, or whoever accompanied them. About 50 or so participated in the fun event.

Picture
The 4th annual dinner, dance & auction held July 14, 2012,  was a fantastic success! Everyone had a great time and we raised over $10,000.00 towards our campaign! Thanks to all of you that helped by buying tickets, showing up for the fun, and donating so many wonderful items for the silent and live auctions. A very, very special thanks to all of you that worked so very hard to make everything possible. We had people selling tickets before the event, others collecting donations, a great group preparing and serving the food, and set-up and clean-up crews! Everyone is just so amazing and we do appreciate all of you.

Successful Second Annual Holy Angels Golf Tournament

Once Again, the Second Annual Holy Angels Golf Tournament held on June 23rd, 2012 was successful. Athough smaller numbers than last year, everyone seemed to be enjoying their game and the tasty breakfast burritos donated by Hatchas Restaurant. Coupled with a beautiful day, it ensured all 44 players had a great time. Thanks to so many benefactors donating towards the silent auction, it helped raise more money for the church and the awards luncheon was delicious, with the beautiful nearby mountains creating an unforgettable ambiance.

FIRST ANNUAL HOLY ANGELS GOLF TOURNAMENT WAS LOVED BY ALL!

Our first golf tournament held on August 27th, 2011, at the Angel Fire Golf Course was a great success with nature first off providing a beautiful day in Northern New Mexico! We had a total of 51 golfers enter the tournament and they all had smiles on their faces as they picked up their scrumptious breakfast burritos and set out to play their game. The luncheon was delicious and set   in a beautiful outdoor setting on the patio of the Angel Fire Country Club.

About $6000.00 was raised and added to the Building Fund. Thanks to all who participated by helping plan the tournament and those who worked all day at the golf course, the Angel Fire Golf Course employees for being so pleasant and helpful, to the players  for entering our tournament and of course to all the wonderful sponsors and businesses that donated either money or auction items. Special thanks to Father Culotta, who unselfishly gave his time to help the entire day!

We plan to make this a yearly event, so if you weren't able to make it this year, please keep it in mind for next year. We promise it will be bigger and better!

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU IT WAS A SUCCESS!

THIRD ANNUAL DINNER, DANCE & AUCTION A HUGE SUCCESS!

The Holy Angels Third Annual Rock n' Roll FUNdraiser held on July 3, 2011 was a huge success! Everyone had a great time and we raised  about $9,000.00 towards building our church. In fact, we are at the $500,000. level now - half-way there until we can began to break ground! Take a look at the following pictures where friends were having fun, helping serve and setting up auction items. The food was delicious and the music featuring oldies was great as ever. Tom and Cindy Germsheid were voted best patriotic costume by our judges. See you at next year's function!

Everyone Enjoyed Boot Scoot'n

Picture
The Boot Scoot'n BBQ and Barn Dance was held on January 29, 2010, and everyone that attended had a great time!

This year we it was held at the Angel Fire Community Center with music by Kim and the Caballeros, the same group from Taos that we had last year. They outdid themselves again, with many old favorites and some new ones also. The food, brisket, coleslaw and potato salad, roll and dessert was delicious.  As soon as the pictures come in, we'll post them for you to see. Thank you to everyone who supported us, both by attending the dinner/dance and also all the hard-working individuals that helped with the many jobs involved. We always need planners, cooks, people to set up the place, serve the food and of course clean up afterwards.

Congratulations, Marian Martinez for winning the door prize, a $50.00 gift certificate to an Angel Fire restaurant and Sally Torres, who won the raffle - a week to a Westin Resort!!

MICHAEL MARTIN MURPHEY IN CONCERT

Picture
One of the best concerts held in Angel Fire in 2010! Michael Martin Murphey always performs at his very best when he steps on that stage. Holy Angels was proud to again present this concert to our community on September 3, 2010, at the Angel Fire Community Center.  The show was again a great success, take a look at some of the pictures taken that night as Michael greeted the crowd and at the end of the event became so excited about our efforts to build a church that he decided (on his own) to "raise some money the old-fashioned Baptist way" - Michael's own words! - and passed his hat around, collecting a big chunk of money for our building fund!! Hooray for Michael! The pictures below show him singing and also passing the hat around. It was a great "FUNdraiser" for all!!

Casino Night Brings 'em All Out in Rain!

Despite a rainy night, our first ever Holy Angels Casino Night was fun for all. The tables were full all night and the shouts from the Craps tables probably shook the house!! The raffles were fun as everyone watched their (many) tickets and kept their fingers crossed hoping to win. Thanks to all who attended and to the many wonderful donors who donated the great prizes.

1960's Dinner, Dance & Auction Fun for All

Our second annual Dinner, Dance & Auction on June 26, 2010,  was a success again! Everyone showed up with their 1960's attire, including psychedelic, hippie and other fun costumes. We had absolutely wonderful auction items and the music by TIme Machine was rocking!

Second Annual Boot Scoot'n a Success Again!

Picture
Kim and her Horse
Kim and the Caballeros (minus the horse) thrilled the crowd with their fabulous music for Holy Angels' second annual Boot Scoot'n Barn Dance and BBQ held on January 29, 2010. In spite of snow that week and cold weather, everyone had a great time. The barbeque was delicious and best of all, we raised more money for the building fund. Check our website for information about our next fund-raiser! Don't be left out of the fun or a chance to help build our church.

Picture
Kim without the Caballeros
Kim and the Caballeros are from Taos and do amazing renditions of some of the old "honky-tonk" music that some of us grew up with. They're also adept at some Blue Grass and newer Country-Western songs. The dance floor was hopping the entire night. We hope to see them again in the future at some of our functions.

1950'S DINNER & DANCE

The poodle skirts & bobbi socks were definitely visible and it WAS a fantastic '50's style dance and spaghetti dinner, along with live and silent auctions on June 20th, 2009. The Time Machine from Taos performed live music (all oldies). The "Holy Angels Bee-Boppers" led by Diane Peterson, our local dance instructor, entertained the crowd of approximately 250 - 275 with a dance to "We Go Together" a song from the movie Grease. The night was a HUGE success, both in raising some much-needed cash for the Holy Angels Building Fund and also as a community get-together with many positive comments still coming in!

Look for this fun activity again in 2010!!

Some of the auction items donated included a beautiful custom-made rustic bedroom set (eight pieces in all) built and donated by Keith and Lorraine Narmi (see picture below) and a like-new 1999 Arctic Cat 440 CC snowmobile, donated by Mike and Jeannie Spruell and a nice saddle donated by Tom Germsheid. One lucky person won the saddle that will make any cowboy or cowgirl very proud. Other items donated included jewelry, art work, landscape materials, and many other items donated by our generous community. Thank you to all who helped.

The Holy Angels Bee-boppers strutting their stuff! Give lots of credit to Diane Peterson, Dance Instructor, for choreographing and conducting this number. I guess you can teach "old dogs" new tricks!! We all loved working with Diane and it was fun (and a lot of hard work) to learn "We Go Together" but we did it and the crowd seemed to enjoy it also.

Costume Contest First Place Winners!!

Picture

If you remember soda shops in the 50's you know this is as authentic as they come!  Jim and Barbara Jean Veirs looked like they were ready to slap the burgers on the grill and serve the milk shakes! Congratulations to you for your originality. Sitting with Barbara Jean and Jim is Art Mackie, who along with Fanny won third place in the costume contest.
